Gobbledygook exploitation-religious-gay-lust takes a bumpy road with Chad Allen playing Mark, a suicidal gay drug addict sent by his family to Genesis House, a Christian rehab clinic geared toward turning young gay men straight.
Mark cleans up his drug habit and makes peace with God.
Still, Mark can’t help being attracted to housemate Scott (Robert Grant) in spite of his commitment to the clinic’s house rules.
"Save Me" refuses to follow any strand of political logic. The movie exists on an insufficient amount of thematic oxygen to support its loaded dramatic context.
The performances are passable, but the production values are left wanting in this independent drama with more heart than brains.
Not Rated. 96 mins.
