March of the Penguins
Originally titled "The Emperor's Journey" ("La Marche de l'empereur") “March Of The Penguins” is a glorious documentary about the remarkable mating cycle of “emperor” penguins. Filmmaker Luc Jacquet captures the untouched beauty of Terre Adelie, Antarctica where the penguins march 70 miles to a safely desolate place where they can find a mate and spend a year of monogamy to have babies many of whom die within the first month of life. Morgan Freeman beautifully narrates the film as it focuses on one particular penguin couple as they live, love, breed and play. The penguins’ signature waddle seems comically accepting of the brutal natural conditions they endure.
