The Girl Next Door

Girl Next Door Shy boy falls for porn star girl in this dreadful recycling of "Risky Business" with Emile Hirsch ("The Emperor's Club") doing the honors as a high school senior with political desires who gets derailed from his studies when new girl-with-a-secret Elisha Cuthbert ("Old School") begins house sitting next door. The rambling movie is more concerned with titillating audiences with nudity and lewd situations than with sticking to a consistent tone of romantic comedy. The writing team of "National Lampoon's Van Wilder" (David Wagner and Brent Goldberg) crafted "The Girl Next Door" as a satire about conflicting levels of sexual experience among teens, but fail to connect the significance of erotic pleasure to the emotional demands of budding adults.
Rated R. 109 mins. (D+) (One Star)
