Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Anchorman Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and his crew of able-bodied funnymen broadcasters team up against the threat of a female anchorman at their male dominated San Diego TV station. Christina Applegate is excellent as Veronica Corningstone, an ambitious journalist ready to bring women’s liberation to front line of the ‘70s, even if it means she has to have her heart broken to do it. “Anchorman” is an over-the-top joyride of a spoof, filled with off-kilter nods and winks to the dry brand of comedy that Mel Brooks made famous. Laughs galore follow the well-paced humor as cameo performances by Jack Black, Tim Robbins, and Luke Wilson spice up the buffoonery ingeniously smacked at by the rest of movie’s talented ensemble.

Rated R. 109 mins. (B+) (Four Stars - out of five/no halves)
