Buzzing Movies

I've recently screened some very good movies to keep an eye out for.

Don Roos' "Happy Endings" is an especially inspired comedy with strong performaces by Maggie Gyllenhaal and Steve Coogan.

"The Warrior" is a timless and understated movie set in Northern India. Stunning.

If you haven't heard the buzz about "Hustle & Flow" with its tour de force performance by Terrence Howard, you soon will. Wow!

"The Constant Gardener" by Fernando Meirelles ("City Of God") is an excellent political espionage thriller about British Government corruption in Northern Kenya. It's based on the novel by John le Carre. This is one meaty movie with Ralph Feinnes, Rachel Weisz and Hubert Kounde.

"Asylum" is a bold melodrama set in 1959 England where the wife of a psychiatric doctor falls in love with one of the asylum's dangerous inmates. Matasha Richardson, Ian McKellen and Marton Csokas are terrific in this gripping drama. The film opens on August 12.
