Director Davis Guggenheim (“An Inconvenient Truth”) brings together rock music legends Jimmy Page (guitarist for Led Zepplin), U2’s The Edge, and White Stripes’ guitarist Jack White for an eventful behind-the-scenes look at how these great musicians communicate with each other and create music.
Impromptu jam sessions and individual strolls down memory lane reveal the guitarists’ childlike passion for their chosen instrument and their sources of inspiration from divergent musical influences.
“It Might Get Loud” is a compact music documentary that could serve as a great stepping-off point for a cable television series, à la the Sundance Channel’s “Iconoclasts.”
It’s as much about the chemistry — Jimmy Page is a perfectly amiable bloke–or lack thereof, since The Edge and Jack White seem diametrically opposed, that keeps the musical discussion interesting. In the end, it’s all just rock ‘n’ roll.
Rated PG. 97 mins.
