• It is finally time to limit the show’s running time to two-and-a-half hours — no more “running over.”
• The show has far too many musical performances — One musical performance is more than enough. If the host does a song-and-dance, then you can have two musical numbers. That’s the limit.
• The Sound Mixing and Sound Editing awards have to be reduced. They are redundant. Either throw both awards out or choose which one to give.
• Ellen DeGeneres is an ideal host for the program. It might be a good idea to bring her back next year.
• It is time to regularize the order that the awards are given in so that the audience feels more in tune with the categories. This extends to the ballot provided by the Academy on its website.
