Films Releases NoBody's Perfect
(2009) on April 16 at the Cinema Village in NYC.

New
York, NY – March 10, 2010 – Lorber Films, a
division of the newly formed Kino Lorber Inc., is proud to
announce the theatrical release of the feature length documentary NoBody's
Perfect (2009) in New York City.
Set to open at
New York's Cinema Village on April 16, 2010, NoBody's Perfect
the local press on March 18 (Thursday), at 6PM, at the Magno Screening
Room (Review
II).

Perfect, filmmaker Niko von Glasow (pictured below) finds another
eleven 'thalidomiders' who,
like himself, are willing to pose nude for a portrait book of
thalidomide-impaired people – and also participate in a documentary that
captures
the entire process.
Besides
featuring candid and yet brutally honest conversations with the 12
people (from
different countries and backgrounds) selected for the film, director von
Glasow incorporates into the film his own attempt to confront the Wirtz
family, the
owners of the Gruenenthal company, with one of his photographs.
Thalidomide was
developed by the German pharmaceutical
company Gruenenthal and sold to pregnant women, from 1957 to 1961, as a
remedy
against morning sickness. Sold in almost 50 countries, Thalidomide was
released
before appropriate tests were made, causing around 10,000 babies to be
born
with disabilities – almost half of them in Germany.
With
a darkly humorous touch and no deference to political correctness, NoBody's
Perfect
in a way rarely
seen on film. Niko von Glasow's inquisitve, respectful and yet,
taboo-free approach tackles everything from sex to depression, while
celebrating
difference instead of focusing on the challenges facing
thalidomide-impaired people.
Born
in Cologne in 1960, director Niko von Glasow was a former production
assistant of legendary German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder. He is
also
part of a movement in Germany that has been campaigning for greater
compensation
from the German manufacturer to a Thalidomide public fund.
