SPOTLIGHT ON CANNES 2021: IN COMPETITION — BENEDETTA —Paul Verhoeven
BENEDETTA
"Virginie Efira plays Benedetta Carlini, a novice nun in the 17th century who joins an Italian convent and begins a love affair with another woman. "Benedetta" is based on the 1986 non-fiction book "Immodest Acts: The Life of a Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy by Judith C. Brown."
Look for "Benedetta" to set the croisette on fire! The film was scheduled to premiere at Cannes 2020, but was put on hold due to Covid. Paul Verhoeven is one of the last great filmmakers we have. It's time to break out a bottle of something special and watch Verhoeven's transformative Cinema. Hollywood's ass will be kicked. You can smell the danger.
