FOCUS ON CANNES 2019: THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF EURIDICE GUSMAO —Karim Aïnouz

Invisible-life

"The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão" is director/co-writer Karim Aïnouz's adaptation of Martha Batalha's novel, about two loyal sisters divided by social forces in '50s era Jro de Janeiro.

Karim-ainouz

Brazillian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz returns to Cannes; his 2002 debut film "Madame Sata" also screened in Un Certain Regard. Fortune shone on "The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão" yesterday when Aïnouz's seventh film won Cannes Un Certain Regard award.

FOCUS ON CANNES 2019: PARASITE —BONG JOON HO

Parasite

"All unemployed, Ki-taek’s family takes peculiar interest in the Parks for their livelihood until they get entangled in an unexpected incident." "Parasite" is a critical darling at Cannes this year; it is poised for a Palme d'Or win if the trade winds on the Riviera are true.

Bong Joon Ho

Bong Joon-Ho is one of the biggest names in Korean Cinema for good reason. Bong is a gifted auteur whose films (see “The Host” 2006) carry humor, social satire, suspense, and human interests in equal measure. Bong’s film “Okja” debuted at Cannes in 2017 — I was there for that, super fun.
