More of a straight romance movie than a romantic comedy, "Just Wright" is sweet enough, without being cloistering, to satisfy its audience. My low expectations were happily put aside by the halfway point when Queen Latifah's down-played charm connected completely with that of Common as a believable MBA pro athlete. Compared to Hollywood's typical ham-handed romantic comedies, the plotline here curves rather than twists. Latifah's physical trainer Leslie represents a nurturing character archetype that we don't see celebrated enough in modern cinema. Some sub-plots and secondary characters are trapped inside unforgiving formula constraints, but overall "Just Wright" is just that.
