The year of senselessly subdued 3D effects rolls on with the final installment to the most gimmicky horror franchise of all time.
Headache-inducing and splattered with more off-color fake blood than you can measure in gallons, director Kevin Greutert ("Saw VI") takes audiences through a gauntlet of timed killing machines ostensibly designed by the prodigious serial killer known as Jigsaw (Tobin Bell).
Sean Patrick Flanery plays Bobby, the author of a bogus self-help book based on his apocryphal experiences as a survivor of one of Jigsaw's diabolical contraptions.

Bobby must pay for his sins in one of Jigsaw's body-mangling mazes that necessarily prods him to attempt to save specific friends and family from Jigsaw's mechanically executed deaths. Slasher flicks have never been big on story, but the "Saw" franchise sets the art of screenwriting back to the stone age. Good horror movies scare you, this one just puts you in a bad mood.
Rated R. 90 mins.
