Newcomer writer/director Eli Roth's "Cabin Fever" is a nail-biting horror movie that has audiences alternately covering their eyes in fear during scenes of gory revelation, or guffawing out loud during moments of inspired humor.

At a remote cabin in the woods, a group of five young friends have their week long vacation interrupted by a flesh eating bacteria that pits them against one another, and against their secluded surroundings.

The film's random and surreal atmosphere is viscerally calculated by the characters' tender flesh as it's corrupted through contaminated drinking water and sexual contact.

Indeed, "Cabin Fever" is filled with lovingly realistic gore that's sustained by a revved up plot that makes big cities look safe compared to unseen dangers lurking in the back woods of the countryside.
