New York, NY – June 4, 2012 - Kino Classics proudly announces the Blu-ray and DVD release of Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936), the David O. Selznick production of the timeless Frances Hodgson Burnett story about a young boy raised in 1880s Brooklyn who finds himself the heir to a fortune, which Frank S. Nugent in his 1936 New York Times review praised as "warm, sentimental and gently humorous."

Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) makes its Blu-ray debut on June 26th, with a SRP of $29.95. It will also be available on DVD, with a SRP of $24.95. Both are currently available for prebook. This edition is authorized by the David O. Selznick estate, and is mastered in HD from an original nitrate 35mm print, preserved by the George Eastman House Motion Picture Department.

This is the fifth release from Kino Classics of films culled from prints from the personal collection of David O. Selznick, preserved by the George Eastman House Motion Picture Department. Previous releases in The Selznick Collection have included A Farewell to Arms (1932), Nothing Sacred (1937), A Star is Born (1937) and Bird of Paradise(1932).

This heartwarming story stars Freddie Bartholomew as Ceddie and Mickey Rooney as his long-time pal Dick, with Dolores Costello as Mrs. Errol, Ceddie's guardian. The cast also features some of the finest character actors from Hollywood's Golden Age, including C. Aubrey Smith and Guy Kibbee.

After her husband dies, the poor but caring Mrs. Errol takes young Ceddie into her home, raising him on her own. One day, Ceddie is called to England as heir to the fortune of his estranged grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, and to take possession of the title of Lord Fauntleroy.

Complications ensue when another young boy turns up claiming to be the rightful heir to the fortune, and to the title. Ceddie must rely on his old pals from Brooklyn to help set things right.

Little Lord Fauntleroy was the first independent production from producer David O. Little Lord Fauntleroy Still 2 Selznick. After producing films for studios such as RKO and MGM, Selznick founded his independent production company – Selznick International Pictures – in 1936, which launched with the release of this film, and would soon thereafter produce such classics as Nothing Sacred, A Star is Born, and Gone with the Wind.

The film was directed by John Cromwell, and features a music score from acclaimed film composer Max Steiner. This Kino Classics Blu-ray and DVD release is the only edition authorized by the estate of David O. Selznick.
