THE EAST HARLEM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2012

SCHEDULE FOR FRIDAY JUNE 1st

The East Harlem International Film Festival continues this Friday June 1st with a round of absolutely amazing movies.
At 6pm, director Maya Vitkova takes us into the world of Mrs. Stanka Atanasova, an elderly and sick woman, and how what is a simple task for most of us, becomes a challenge for her.
In "Leonid’s Story" a Soviet family searching for a modest paradise is swept into an immense disaster. This magically animated film combines drawing, photography and documentary video to capture the surreal emotions of the too-real tragedy: Chernobyl 1986.
From Holland we feature the film “A Penny For” and from Lithuania we enjoy the film“Sanxai Banzai”

At 8pm, In "Winter Frog" Gerard Depardieu is Benjamin, a winemaker who sees his wife die in his arms following a long illness. There's only one way for him: death. But a young Japanese woman, coming specially to taste his wine, will gently bring him to mourn the death of his wife by a series of symbols and exchanges between two cultures.
The Films “Bitter Mik” “Einspruch” and “ABC” will also be part of the line-up this evening.
