NEW YORK, NY – JANUARY 28, 2015 - Kino Lorber is pleased to announce the DVD release of NAS: TIME IS ILLMATIC, a documentary about the life, music, and influences of this visionary hip-hop artist, looking back over the 20 years since the release of his influential first album, "Illmatic". Tracing Nas's life from his childhood experiences, to his role in the burgeoning New York hip-hop scene, NAS: TIME IS ILLMATIC explores the challenges he faced before signing his first deal with a major label. 

NAS: TIME IS ILLMATIC is set to street on DVD February 3, 2015, with a SRP of $24.95. The DVD includes never before seen bonus features such as RememberingIllmatic, deleted scenes, a featurette, and the trailer.

The film opened the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and was an official selection at numerous film festivals including IDFA 2014, St. Louis International Film Festival, Calgary International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, and BFI London Film Festival. Directed by award-winning multimedia artist and filmmaker One9, the documentarty includes interviews with Nas' musical collaborators and peers, including Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, L.E.S., DJ Premier, Pharrell Williams and Alicia Keys.
