The illustrious Fillmore Towne Theatre (the oldest cinema in all of California — Mary Pickford performed on its stage) gets a cool cameo in "Pee-wee's Big Holiday." Of course the "old highway" is in the opposite direction, because that's how they do it in the movies. I had the pleasure of seeing "Ratatouille" there before the cinema closed in 2011 due to lack of financial support. The landmark cinema (located at 338 Central Avenue) opened in 1916. I love this theater, and evidently I'm not the only one. I hope one day it can be reopened. In the meantime, keep an eye out for it in "Pee-wee's Big Holiday." It comes up just after the milkshake scene!
