Claude Lelouch is French Royalty in Cinema. The prolific Lelouch won the Palme d’Or in 1966 for “A Man and a Woman,” about a young widow and widower (played by Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant) who meet at their children’s boarding school. 53 years later, Claude Lelouch returns to the couple, now in old age, as they share memories of the people they once were.
“The Best Years of a Life” is being shown outside of the Competition in Cannes. Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant are still running circles around every superhero actor on the planet. Aimée and Trintignant are real-life superheroes of Cinema.
