Cobra announces new Internet radio line now available

Cir1000a-large CHICAGO (May 13, 2009) —Cobra Electronics (NASDAQ:COBR) today announced the availability of its new Internet Radio line. Cobra’s bookshelf radio units, the CIR1000A and CIR2000A, offer an innovative way to enjoy online broadcasts, delivering superior sound quality and access to a variety of global broadcasts.

The products wirelessly stream your online listening, letting listeners enjoy their favorite radio stations or podcasts free from the confines of a computer chair.

“Gone are the days of scratchy computer speakers,” said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president of marketing

and sales. “The CIR1000A and CIR2000A will change the way people listen to online radio. Podcasts and online radio broadcasts have succeeded in making the radio relevant again—and our new Internet Radio line connects listeners to radio in a way that is both nostalgic and groundbreaking.”

The CIR1000A and CIR2000A provide access to an expanding network of over 10,000 online radio stations around the world. The units receive and play streaming Internet radio using your existing WiFi network or broadband Internet connection. They also support MP3, WMA, and Real Media files via your wireless network enabling listeners to steam their computer’s music collections anywhere they have access to the network.

The CIR2000A, the premium unit in the series, features SD and USB slots for custom music inputs as well as a CD player with Gracenote® media database technology that recognizes album and artist information for each song. The unit also offers station presets for FM or Internet radio and a full-functioning remote control.

The CIR1000A offers a smaller design with a eight-watt (peak) built-in speaker; while the CIR2000A features

two, twenty-watt (peak) stand alone stereo speakers. Both deliver sound quality unmatched by tinny computer speakers and feature simple menu interfaces for easy setup and searching of favorite stations by regions, country or genre.

Listeners can tune-in to the newest Reggae beats straight from Jamaica, cheer along with their alma mater’s football game or listen to the local news of a city halfway across the world without being bound to computer speakers or ear buds.

The CIR1000A and CIR2000A have a MSRP of $179.95 and $289.95 respectively, and are currently available through www.cobra.com and other online retailers. To learn more about Cobra’s Internet Radio line, visit www.cobra.com.
