Michael Nyqvist — Dead at 56

Michael Nyqvist, the star of the original Sewdish ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ franchise was born Rolf Åke Mikael Nyqvist in November 1960. He attended the School of Drama in Malmö. He is survived by his wife Catharina and their children Ellen and Arthur. Michael Nyqvist was a terrific actor and on-screen presence. We will miss him so.

Nyqvist’s representative Jenny Tversky reported that he died surrounded by his family after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
