In the realm of entry level 1080p projectors, the Optoma HD20 is a stand out. I can't imagine a better projector for under a thousand dollars. Its $999.00 price alone should be enough to stop anyone in their tracks who is considering purchasing a flat panel monitor of any stripe. If you want a great looking giant image at a great price, look no further. From an 11' throw I was able to achieve a 74" image of astonishingly good movie-viewing quality. The projector is ideal for watching sports, and could easily be used in a bar or other commercial environment. The Optoma HD20 is small, lite, and compact, making installation and portability a breeze.
Pros:
•The HD20 is incredibly fast and easy to set up and use right out of the box. Not much need for an instruction manual here.•The lighted remote control is very user-friendly. It offers a full range of sub-menu options under its Image, Display, System, and Set-Up categories.
•Brightness levels are good even in partially lit conditions. Under dark conditions, the projector emits an impressive cinema quality image.
•Inputs include two HDMI inputs, a HD15 connector, a dedicated component video input with three color-coded RCA jacks. The unit also comes with a 12-volt screen trigger for use with a motorized screen.
Cons:
•Black levels could be improved.•Sharpness could be improved.
•The unit is a bit noisy, and needs to be copensated for with a good amount of source volume from a surround sound system.
•No S-video input.
•Although the brightness level is good, there is room for improvement.
