“Pleasure or Pain” on DVD

NEW YORK, NY – JUNE 10, 2014 – Kino Lorber is pleased to announce the DVD premiere of Zalman King's PLEASURE OR PAIN, the groundbreaking final work from this highly influential and distinctive filmmaker, made right before his untimely passing in 2012.

Zalman King's name has become synonymous with the personal and stylish erotic qualities that he brought to all of his work, and PLEASURE OR PAIN is a fitting swan song to his prolific and profoundly influential career.

This erotic tale, about a beautiful young jewelry designer and her romance with a wealthy and powerful entrepreneur, will make its DVD debut on July 8, with a SRP of $26.95 featuring the trailer and a special tribute to the late writer-director Zalman King, who brought audiences his unique brand of stylish and sexy dramas that set the standard for erotic filmmaking and influenced countless others, right up through the wildly successful Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon of today.

Kino Lorber is pleased to bring this important final work in King's celebrated career to DVD for the first time. Building on the reputation he achieved over the course of many acclaimed films and television programs — including the groundbreaking Red Shoe Diaries — King's cinematic swan song continues his tradition for high-quality erotic drama into the 21st century and is a fitting tribute to the legacy of this unique and personal filmmaker.

Zalman King's last project before his untimely death, PLEASURE OR PAIN breaks new ground and presents a 9½ Weeks for the new millennium. 

Victoria, a beautiful young woman just emerging in L.A. as a jewelry designer, meets Jack, a handsome and wealthy entrepreneur.

Her life changes forever as he courts her with a combination of charm, romance and adventure that she finds irresistible. Spankings come gratis, and so does she.

Jack continuously prods Victoria to be more daring in their sexual adventures … but it all becomes too much for her, and she tries to leave. And so begins a dark, downward spiral that almost costs Victoria her sanity and even her life.

She tells her story as a warning to other women who may come face-to-face with this same kind of thrilling but dangerous psychological and sexual possession.
