With the advent of the cable television program "Real Housewives of New York City," and the global economic collapse, the whole construct of "Sex and the City" has come to resemble a bad idea with good PR.

Had the filmmakers created an all-out sex farce porno centered on Kim Cattrall's cougar-in-heat Samantha Jones, then at least the genre would fit the material's instant gratification intentions. Only Cattrall's character has any believability. However that's beside the point in a storyline that insists on miscasting Sarah Jessica Parker as a leading lady protagonist.
"Sexy," Parker is not. Never has glamour and luxury looked so cheap.
It may be the film's silver lining that it exposes the brittle emptiness of expensive trappings. I can't think of a worst waste of two and a half hours than this piece of insipid cinematic drivel that doesn't even constitute a "movie" by any real standards.
There's something here to offend almost anyone.
