Just when Amanda Bynes dropped off the teeny-girl radar, the two-note actress resurfaces as Viola, a high school soccer star who disguises herself as her twin brother in order to play on a boy’s team after her school drops its girl’s soccer program two weeks before a championship game.
Bynes does such a dratted job of masquerading as a boy that subtextual questions of latent homosexuality arise in her soccer playing roommate Duke (Channing Tatum).
Off-Broadway musical director Andy Fickman oversees this cinematic Cheese Whiz. Unless you’re a 12-year-old girl, this movie holds no entertainment value.
Rated PG-13. 105 mins.
