HANNIBAL PICTURES CELEBRATE CANNES

Depardieu FESTIVAL DE CANNES – Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Depardieu, Til Schweiger, Thomas Jane, Johnny Hallyday, Jon Lovitz and Eric Cantona, will star in Sleight of Hand, it was announced today by Producer Richard Rionda del Castro; whose Hannibal Classics will begin selling the film this week at Cannes. Also producing will be Gilles Thompson from Acteurs, Auteurs, Associes (AAA). Brad Mirman will direct the star-studded action comedy. Patricia Eberle will serve as executive producer. The film will shoot the end of July through mid-September.

“There is no better place to announce a French film with International stars than the Cannes Film Festival,” says Rionda del Castro; also a principal in Marco Polo Production. “It is going to be a wonderful film entirely shot in Paris, the most beautiful city in the world and I will be working for the second time with Gerard, Johnny, Thomas and Jon. We are still casting so there are a few more surprises in store.”

Jane In Sleight of Hand, also starring French actors Jean Luc Couchard, Nora Arnezeder and Patrice Cols, the international cast plays a crew of small time crooks in Paris, who inadvertently end up possessing a rare gold coin belonging to a notorious French gangster. The leader of the crew calls his uncle (Depardieu), a retired criminal, to help them raise the money to repay the gangster. The series of mix-ups and double crosses culminate as the gangs are pit face to face, chasing through Paris.

“I am honored to be a part of this film, and to be able to work with such an amazing cast, who not only exude talent but bring passion, humor and excitement on and off the screen, “ adds Mirman. A writer, director and producer, Mirman’s past films include Resurrection, Crime Spree and Body of Evidence and recently the Internet Action Series with Kiefer Sutherland.

Rionda del Castro is also announcing the Hannibal Classics’ production of the film Amityville: The Legacy 3D. The supernatural film delves deeper into the horror and tragedy that began in the quiet town of Amityville, New York in the 1970’s.

The producers of Amityville: The Legacy 3D are Rionda del Castro, Paul Mason and Steve B. Harris.  It is written by Harris and Andrew Helm. The film is based on the book Amityville: The Evil Escapes by John G. Jones.  Director and additional casting will be announced after Cannes, and the film is set for a September start date.

Hannibal Classics represents worldwide sales for both films.  Hannibal Classics/Hannibal Pictures will be at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, located at Lerins S13. Hannibal Classics films being sold at Cannes include: Touchback, starring Kurt Russell and Brian Presley; and Set Up, with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Bruce Willis, Ryan Phillippe and Randy Couture.  Hannibal Pictures will have available the film Things Fall Apart with Curtis Jackson, Ray Liotta and Mario Van Peebles, who also directs. Things Fall Apart depicts the grueling physical transformation undertaken by Curtis Jackson for his role, including a dramatic 80lbs weight loss. Worldwide premiere screenings will be held for Touchback and Things Fall Apart during the Cannes Film Festival.

Patricia Eberle and Rionda del Castro will celebrate Hannibal Classics and Hannibal Pictures in Cannes at their annual party along with talent from their films, friends and buyers at the LiveStyle and Nikki Beach property Saturday, May 14th.
