Sundance Selects: the New Platform for Documentary and World Cinema

by

Sundance035 Premiering March 10 nationwide on movies-on-demand from is MY ENEMY’S ENEMY, an acclaimed documentary from Kevin Macdonald, the Oscar®-winning director of LAST KING OF SCOTLAND, FOUR DAYS IN SEPTEMBER and TOUCHING THE VOID.  MY ENEMY’S ENEMY, which was shown at both Telluride and Toronto, blends striking debate, wit and visual panache to tell the extraordinary story of Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie a.k.a. the Butcher of Lyon.  After WW2, Barbie became an agent of American counter-intelligence during the Cold War and later became astonishingly successful in reviving the fortunes of other ex-Nazis. Macdonald reveals Barbie’s life story as something wilder and more bizarre than what most fiction writers could dream up, and he gives the film the texture and suspense of thrillers like THE ODESSA FILE, THE MARATHON MAN and THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL.

Also premiering next month is AGAINST THE CURRENT, an inspirational drama based on a true story about a man with a tragic past who sets out to swim the length of the Hudson River.  Written and directed by Peter Callahan, AGAINST THE CURRENT premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and stars Joseph Fiennes (SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE), Justin Kirk (WEEDS), Elizabeth Reaser (THE TWILIGHT SAGA), Michelle Trachtenberg (GOSSIP GIRL) and the Oscar®-winner Mary Tyler Moore. Both tragic and funny, AGAINST THE CURRENT is a compelling and uncompromising exploration of sorrow and loss, and the limits and responsibilities of friendship.  AGAINST THE CURRENT premieres March 24th.

Sundance Selects titles are available for 2 to 3 months on the main on-demand platform of major cable operators, including Comcast, Cox and Cablevision and Time Warner.
