“Teeth” is an over-the-top exploitation black comedy that mines the vagina dentata myth for guffaw-inducing laughs.
It’s a high concept movie that fulfills its satirical intent only inasmuch as its gory castration set pieces allow.
Jess Wexler plays Dawn, a girl obsessed with keeping her place in a Christian group that cites celibacy as its main purpose.
But the story veers away from its proposes arena of satire when Dawn is date-raped in an idyllic outdoor setting and discovers the power of her cursed genitalia.
Writer/director Mitchell Lichtenstein tosses in thematic elements of incest and pedophilia as so much narrative hamburger helper, but by then the movie has already worn out its welcome.
Rated R. 94 mins.
